Gabriel Garcia Roman

Queer Icons

To support the continuation of Gabriel Garcia Roman’s project Queer Icons, a mixed media photo-based portrait series highlighting members of the Queer/Trans community of color. This series began in 2011 and utilizes the photogravure printing process where each print is made from a metal plate that is photo-sensitive. In 2018, the scope of the project will grow via an open call for QTPoC artists, activists and community organizers in order to highlight community members that live in areas outside of New York City, where the majority of portraits in this series have been taken so far.
