Chicago Lowrider Preservation Project: Cars, Culture and Community

To support the mapping and documentation of Midwestern Lowrider culture, stories and histories in urban, Mexican and Mexican-American communities in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The Chicago Lowrider Preservation Project: Cars, Culture and Community will produce a limited edition, archival publication through visual documentation, scholarly writings, mappings and storytelling in order to forward the argument that expression of identity is the telos of Lowrider art and culture. This cultural research and archival publication will be the first of its kind in collecting, exhibiting and presenting a larger body of visual representation for the Midwestern Mexican and Mexican-American contributions to the Lowrider subculture.
