La Comida es Medicina

To support the well-being of Latinx communities through a group art exhibit based on the ideas put forth in the book Decolonize Your Diet. In this book, scholars and writers Luz Calvo and Catriona Rueda Esquibel highlight the benefits of the pre-colonial, plant-based food of our ancestors. Artist Suzy González will work with these authors to curate a visual art exhibit connecting food with indigenous cultures, labor struggles, and environmental justice; it will be presented at Galería de la Raza in San Francisco. In addition to the exhibit, the project will include the creation of a printed catalog, a panel discussion with the authors and artists, and workshops for community members to engage with ancestral foods.
